Acne Nodules and Cysts and Acne Facial Acupuncture: What to Know
Published Updated
Deep, painful lumps on the face are not simply stubborn spots, and they are not the same thing as the flat red or brown traces that can remain after a flare. Acne nodules and cysts are forms of active acne that deserve a careful look at the skin, current treatment and scarring risk. This page explains how those distinctions shape a conversation about acne facial acupuncture, when a Chinese medicine consultation may be a supportive option, and when medical or dermatology assessment should take priority. The aim is a safer, more useful discussion—not a promise to clear a particular lesion, mark or scar.
Appointments are confirmed through WhatsApp. If you have language requirements, please mention them in your enquiry.

The short answer
Acne nodules and cysts are deep, painful active breakouts, whereas flat red or brown marks and indented or raised scars are different concerns. Acne facial acupuncture should be considered only after the current skin condition, medicines and goals have been reviewed. Broken skin, pus, spreading redness, marked pain, rapid worsening or new scarring are reasons to seek medical or dermatology assessment first rather than treating a facial procedure as an automatic next step.

Your questions, answered
Frequently asked questions
What are acne nodules and cysts?
They are deeper forms of active acne. Nodules can feel like hard painful lumps beneath the skin, while severe acne may include cysts. Because deep lesions can scar, multiple painful lesions, worsening inflammation or recurring scars should be discussed with a doctor or dermatologist.
Can acne facial acupuncture be used during an acne flare?
It is not an automatic yes. The decision depends on the current condition of the skin, including whether there is broken skin, pus, marked redness, pain or suspected infection, plus your medicines and medical plan. An assessment may conclude that medical care or waiting is more appropriate.
Can acne facial acupuncture remove acne marks or scars?
It should not be promised as a way to remove marks or scars. Flat red or brown marks, active acne and indented or raised scars are different concerns. First identify which is present and address new inflammation and scarring risk with appropriate clinical advice.
What should I do if acne nodules hurt or keep returning?
Record when and where they occur, your current skincare and medicines, and whether redness, swelling or scarring is increasing. Avoid squeezing the lesions. Arrange medical or dermatology assessment for painful, multiple, rapidly worsening or scarring acne, and bring that record to the appointment.
